August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), a time to spread the word and highlight the importance of vaccines in protecting public health. Vaccines have been one of the most effective tools in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. Despite their proven success, vaccine hesitancy and misinformation continue to pose challenges. NIAM serves as an annual reminder of the critical role immunizations play in maintaining community health and encourages individuals, families, and healthcare professionals to stay informed and proactive about vaccinations.
RESOURCES
The CDC has developed a number of resources to help discuss vaccinations with your patients and parents during NIAM and throughout the year:
- Interactive resources for your adult and childhood patients
- Promotional graphics and resources to help promote routine vaccinations on various social media platforms and websites
- And resources available for all staff in healthcare practices, including non-clinical staff, who play important roles during NIAM can be found on CDC’s website
Spead The Word
The CDC encourages its partners to share these messages and resources on social media platforms throughout August using the hashtag #Ivax2protect.
