Getting Caught Up on Back-to-School Vaccines

Back-To-School Vaccines

Help keep your patients and their families informed about immunizations that may be due during their next check-up or back-to-school physical. Back- to-school is always a busy time for you and your patients.  The pandemic has caused many parents to delay routine care, which resulted in a 5% decline in immunization coverage between 2019 and 2021, to 81% worldwide, according to the data collected by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations children’s charity UNICEF.

BACK TO SCHOOL: VACCINE RESOURCES FOR PATIENTS

The CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) suggest one of the best ways to protect kids from serious, but preventable, diseases is to make they are caught up catch up on routine childhood vaccinations. The CDC approved COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 6 months and older. Children can receive a COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as other shots like the flu, measles, polio and hepatitis A and B vaccines.

CPP Vaccine Management Resources

Help make the most of the time you spend with your patients by providing resources that will help address concerns about vaccines and lead to a productive discussion during the office visit. CPP has valuable vaccine management resources that include:

Immunization Schedules

Provider Resources for Vaccine Conversations with Parents

Updated Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) Sheets

Don’t forget that CPP also has a 2nd Dose Grant Program where members can earn an educational grant up to $1,000.  Practices will examine 2nd dose completion rates for vaccines that require more than one dose to complete the series, implement an intervention in their office to help improve these rates, and share best practices with other CPP members.
